International  Police Academy of the Safety (IPAS) 2010

is a three-year preventive program designed by the police of the Lodz province.

The main purpose of that program is a general education of the children in the early-school age - how to stay safe during contacts with danger and threats.

The project is widely spread through the entire area of the Lodz province. Thanks to the huge support of the Marshal's Office in Lodz - there is an every-year-edition of the educational worked out, namely in a form of a small booklet titled "Bringing up in the safety".

On the basis of this publication, in cooperation with the Education Department of the Mayor’s Office in Lodz, in the first classes of the all primary schools in Lodz - a preventive/prophylaxis lessons are carried out.

Children participating in that kind of lessons do acquire of the knowledge and abilities on the ways of avoiding threats.

‘A guide-man’ through the safe world is a figure of the commissioner ‘Blysk’ (Flesh) invented (created) by the youngest children, which in the form of the play - of riddles, crosswords, graphic puzzles - warns, informs and gives advices how to avoid dangers, how to behave in difficult situations and in what way and to whom turn for the help if needed.

The integral part of the program ‘the Police Academy of the Safety’ is competition in the physical fitness and the knowledge about the safety.

It is run in three stages - school, county and regional level.

Every year in June, before finishing the school year, there is a final of the competition in question with participation of representations of children from the first classes from the entire Lodz province.

Rules of the competition and reports from individual finals are presented on a website www.komisarz-blysk.pl.

On the basis of this undertaking which gained the great social appreciation in our province, the Prevention Department of the Regional Headquarters in Łódź took the initiative to organize the International Police Academy of the Safety.

The completion of this undertaking is scheduled for 2010.

By applying numerous international contacts of polish police officers made on the occasion of an organised international conferences at the Higher Police School in Szczytno, Police School in Słupsk and contacts of members of the Łódź Regional Group of International Police Association (IPA) - we want to propagate our initiative throughout international borders.

Based on the foregoing, by the 2010 we would like, to have our foreign colleagues dealing with crime prevention issues acquainted with our project - hoping for transferring its main assumptions and methodology into their homeland preventive programmes.

The selected best couple of the competitors of the first classes in the given country would be invited to Łódź to take part in the international ending of this program.

The predicted number of competitors from foreign countries together with their attendants would be 36 in total.
